Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC)/Institute of HIV/AIDS, Disease Prevention, and Control (IHDPC) Names Dr. Innocent Turate as New Director.

Dr. Innocent Turate is a Medical Doctor with specialization in Public Health, Orientation Disease Control and Reproductive Health. He has particular skills in program management, strategy analysis, especially in HIV Clinical Services Programs, tuberculosis, and Reproductive Health, including Maternal and Child Health and Family Planning, as well as Quality Assurance and Healthcare Accreditation. 

Dr. Innocent graduated as Medical Doctor in 2002 from the University of Rwanda. In 2012, he got his Master of Science in Public Health (MScPH), Orientation Disease Control, Option Reproductive Health, at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), Antwerp, Belgium.

Between 2002 and 2003 he worked for Kabgayi District Hospital as General Practitioner, before joining FHI360 as HIV Clinical Officer, where he pioneered the scaling up of HIV Care and Treatment in district hospitals across the country. From 2006 to 2011 he became a Senior Program Manager at FHI360 – Rwanda Country Office. From 2012 to 2013 he was employed as Course Tutor for the Electronic Short Course on Antiretroviral Therapy (eSCART)at the Institute of Tropical Medicine,Antwerp-Belgium ; at the same time, he conducted a map analysis to develop research priorities on Multi-drug-resistant Tuberculosis. From 2013 to 2016, he was a Health Quality Assurance Specialist in the Ministry of Health.
