Paulo Buss

Dr. Paulo Buss was president of Brazil's FIOCRUZ from 2001-2008 and currently Brazil's representative on the WHO’s Executive Board (2008-2011). He has served as the president of the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) since 2008.  He has played a major role in public health, both in his home country and around the world. Since the early 1980s,  Dr. Buss has been a key figure in Brazil's rapid improvements in public health. He has since turned his broadened his focus, with one of his roles being a founding member of IANPHI's  executive board.

Buss has written three books and more than 80 technical-scientific articles for scientific journals in Brazil and abroad. He has been granted the Medical Merit Honour, the highest health award in Brazil, and the Ordem do Rio Branco, both conferred by the president of the Republic.

Since January 2003, Buss has coordinated Health Innovation, a research project investigating the future of health inputs in Brazil (vaccines, drugs, diagnosis resources, surgical, diagnosis, and blood equipment).

He served as an Executive Board member of IANPHI from 2006 - 2009.
