IANPHI U.S. Office Hosts Website Training for Malawi NPHI

With the support of the IANPHI U.S. Office, the Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) was able to develop its own website as well as a social media presence; providing valuable information to donors, public health officials, and the greater community in Malawi and around the world.

In May 2014 IANPHI U.S. Office in Atlanta held a training course for PHIM representative Billy Nyambalo, who was able to gain the skills needed to maintain and further develop the site.

PHIM's website is now up and running under Nyambalo's responsibility. The site provides information on the structure and activities of PHIM, in addition to up-to-date information on the latest meetings, events, and public health announcements from PHIM leadership.

While at the training, Mr. Nyambalo also developed the institute's social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter. These sites provide tools for reaching a wide audience with relevant health messages, and Malawi's PHIM looks forward to integrating these new communication tools into their work. IANPHI is working to develop similar trainings for other NPHIs interested in expanding their online presence.
